For quite a few months, I’ve been eyeing a couple of NARS’ blushes. Based on the rave reviews, I felt that I really wanted to try them out, but the price tag is a little offsetting. For $28 you get just under five grams of product. If you compare this to the ever-so-popular MAC blushes, you get 1.2 grams of product less for double the price. However, I have recently been on a search for a natural looking blush that lasts throughout the day. Due to my presently oily skin, this is no easy task and has left me willing to spend a little extra cash on a product that can live up to those expectations.
I’m happy to say that NARS didn’t let me down. Douceur is the only blush I own that lasts the entire day if I need it to without reapplying. The color doesn’t seem to fade, but, instead, melds in perfectly with my skin as the day goes on. In terms of color, pigmentation, and finish, Douceur is a medium-tone pinky-brown matte shade that I would give 7 out of 10 with regards to color payoff. I find that on first application it can go on quite sheer, but is very buildable. So buildable, in fact, that dramatic, almost contoured cheeks are absolutely attainable. I find the color to be a bit interesting for a blush as it appears almost earth-toned. That being said, I do not find that it turns muddy when blended out and the combination of it’s slight pink tint and matte finish are what give this blush its “natural flush” effect.
I now use this blush on an everyday basis because I love it so much. It has everything I was looking for in terms of color and longevity of wear. I think I may have found my holy grail blush.
What blush do you tend to reach for everyday?
